Speakeasy Architecture: The Blueprint of ‘New York City’

When I sat down at the blending bench to architect a scent for New York City, I didn't want the bright lights of Times Square. I wanted the grit and glamour of the 1920s. I wanted to build the atmosphere of a basement club in Manhattan during Prohibition—where the air is thick with the scent of aged cognac, expensive tobacco, and a touch of something sweet and dangerous.

New York City is a blueprint of Sultry Sophistication. It’s rich, atmospheric, and built for the artisan who wants to capture that "Midnight Luxe" energy that feels exclusive and timeless.

The Architecture of a Hidden City

I designed this profile to move from a sharp, spirited opening into a deep, lingering finish:

  1. The Atmospheric Opening: I led with Spirited Vintage Cognac, Oak Wood, and Smooth Suede. This is an immediate hit of pure character. The cognac provides that sharp, sophisticated "burn," while the suede and oak build the walls of the room—expensive and solid.
  2. The Indulgent Heart: To build the "walls" of this scent, I blended Apple, Tonka Bean, and a Hint of Chocolate. This is the structural pivot. It’s the sweetness of the forbidden—a complex, gourmand heart that makes the fragrance feel addictive and high-end.
  3. The Sultry Finish: The foundation is where the night settles. I anchored the build in Tobacco Leaf, Cinnamon, and Vanilla. It’s a grounded, warm, and spicy finish that stays on the skin like a whispered secret long after the sun comes up.

A Masterclass in "Dark Gourmand"

New York City is for the maker who wants to lean into the 2026 trend of "Jazz-Age Aesthetic" and "Intoxicating Woods." It’s a powerhouse for luxury masculine and unisex candle collections, rich body oils, and signature evening fragrances.
